Stepping into this role as President of YNPN Phoenix, I find myself reflecting on the journey that led me here. Like many of you, I entered the nonprofit sector eager to make a difference but quickly faced the all-too-familiar challenge: needing experience to gain experience. It’s a paradox that so many young professionals encounter—a system that asks for expertise before offering the opportunity.
But then I found YNPN Phoenix.
From the very first event I attended, I was welcomed into a space where my ideas were valued, my voice was heard, and my ambition was not only recognized but celebrated. Here, experience was not a prerequisite—passion, curiosity, and a willingness to grow were enough. This organization became a launching pad, not just for my career, but for my confidence in the impact I could make. It was a place where I could connect, learn, and, most importantly, advocate—not just for myself, but for others.
At its core, YNPN Phoenix is about more than networking or professional development. We are a movement. We are a collective of young professionals who believe in a more inclusive, equitable, and just nonprofit sector—one where diverse voices are not only present but centered. Advocacy is woven into everything we do. Whether we are amplifying the voices of emerging leaders, championing equity in the workplace, or providing the tools and connections to empower one another, we are committed to shaping a future that is more representative of the communities we serve.
And when we say "young" in YNPN, we don't mean age. Whether you are young in your career, young to the nonprofit sector, or simply young at heart, there is a place for you here. Passion and purpose know no age limit.
This year, we will continue to build on that foundation. Through networking events, skill-building workshops, the LINK nonprofit pitch event, and volunteer opportunities, we will create spaces for young professionals to step into their power. We will foster collaboration, knowing that true impact is achieved when we lift each other up. We will use our voices to not only navigate this sector but transform it—challenging outdated systems, pushing for more inclusive leadership, and ensuring that every young nonprofit professional knows their worth.
As we move forward, I invite you to take your place in this community. Whether you are just beginning your nonprofit journey, transitioning from another field, or searching for a space where you truly belong, YNPN Phoenix is here for you. Engage in the conversation.
